Trigonometry (from Greek trigōnon, “triangle” and metron, “measure”) is a branch of mathematics that studies relationships between side lengths and angles of triangles. So, Trig is the study of the properties of triangles. Why is it important? It’s used in measuring precise distances, particularly in industries like satellite systems, astronomy, celestial mechanics, navigation and surveying. It’s not only space, however. Trig is present in architecture and music, too.
This zip file of trigonometry tutorial and lesson videos with textbook from Khan Academy will help students get up to speed and master this most important area of mathematics. To access the videos, you will need to download this zip file (322MB in size), and after unzipping it, the videos and content will be in a folder named “89 Trigonometry Videos by Khan Academy”. Simply click or select the “index.html” file to view the videos home page in your browser (see picture below), which is the top-level table of contents page. No internet connection is needed since they are all downloaded once. Also included is this well written Algebra and Trigonometry Textbook by Jay Abramson (23MB) with solutions to all examples and answers to their Try It questions.
