These comprehensive free secondary math instruction modules from the Mathematics Vision Project (MVP) are excellent choices for high school and advanced middle school math students. Each of the three modules includes an introduction to the teaching procedures as well as coverage of the core math curriculum (linked under the teacher editions).

Students are presented with an interesting assignment at the start of the MVP engagement, and they are then encouraged to try their best towards its solution. The students discover specific mathematical outcomes as their ideas develop and take shape. Once investigated, they become mathematical principles that the students accept as useful approaches to problem-solving and analysis.
These math modules follow the Standards for Mathematical Practice, which outline several types of math skills that students should try to develop and attain. These practices are based on significant “processes and proficiencies” that have long been recognized as crucial to the teaching of mathematics.
- Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.
- Reason abstractly and quantitatively.
- Construct viable arguments and critique the reasoning of others.
- Model with mathematics.
- Use appropriate tools strategically.
- Attend to precision.
- Look for and make use of structure.
- Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.
This math curriculum follows these conceptual categories of the high school standards:
- Number and Quantity
- Algebra
- Functions
- Modeling
- Geometry
- Statistics and Probability
